SaberFit uses an abbreviated Belt System:

 

 

Initiate:  Pips to be earned.

​

Apprentice: mastered form FORM I (COPPER)

  • grasps basic attacks  in zones 1,2 and 3

  • maintains distance

  • executes breaks in distance

    • level two

    • grasps basic parries to zones 1,2 3 (using parry 3,4,5)

    • breaks in tempo

    • lunging

    • light sparring, hands and head only

 

Knight:  Mastered Makashi form  (SILVER)

  • basic attacks in zones 5,6

  • executes beats in actions

  • demonstrates disengages

    • level 2

    • outer line prime defense and attack

    • properly execute Binds, parries, and counterattacks in zones 2,3,5,6

    • Properly uses and executes feints

    • heavier sparring- hands, head, and torso (Heavy training gear required)

 

Master: permission to work with two short blades, must instruct and assist in training(GOLD)

​

  • Demonstrates complex 3+ actions

  • Demonstrates basic armed disarming techniques

  • Successfully changes lines of attack and defense

    • Level two

    • Successfully incorporates unarmed attacks

    • Successfully incorporates unarmed disarms

    • Pass the fitness test

 

Weapons master: permission to work with and focus on obscure weapons other than light sabers (GOLD, SILVER, COPPER)

  • Chooses a weapon to specialize and focus on as primary

  • Demonstrates proficiency in two or more weapons styles

 

Battle Master: (GOLD, SILVER, COPPER)

  • Demonstrates versatility in 3 or more weapon styles

  • Demonstrates proficiency in unarmed combat

  • Demonstrates proficiency in grappling combat

 

Grand Master- Honorific Title (GOLD, SILVER, COPPER, BLACK)

 

 

 

 

Rating:

 

SaberFit also has a combat rating system earned through competition/combat this is mostly internal as most competitions will be handled through the Saber Legion or US Lightfencing.
